PhD <em>Princeton University<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p>Caitlin Karyadi is a historian of Japanese art and visual culture, specializing in early modern Japanese imagery and its transregional contexts. Her current book project re-evaluates processes of canonization across premodern East Asia through the example of the Chinese painter Shen Nanpin (1682\u2013ca. 1760) and his outsized Japanese legacy. She is also working on a history of exchange in the visual arts across East and Southeast Asia in the fifteenth through seventeenth centuries, proposing a littoral framework for the region. Karyadi previously worked as a curator.
