The lectures are arranged chronologically to give students an essential foundation upon which to consider how contemporary art responds to local and global changes. During the 1980s painting was often the medium of choice and issues of identity and cultural heritage were key concerns; however, the arrival of the new millennium witnessed a significant change in materials and artistic approach.
