On\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/finearts.hku.hk\/events\/ms-binna-choi-ms-annie-wan-ms-michelle-wong-what-does-art-do-mediating-gwangju-biennale-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">23 March<\/a>, we were delighted to have invited the curatorial team of\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gwangjubiennale.org\/www\/vieweng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Gwangju Biennale 2016<\/a>, representatives of\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hkadc.org.hk\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Hong Kong Arts Development Council<\/a>, as well as local students and professionals in this field to come together at HKU for a panel discussion. The event started with a presentation by Binna Choi, curator of\u00a0Gwangju Biennale 2016, exploring the potentials of a simple but fundamental question \u201cWhat does art do?\u201d. It was then followed by an inspiring conversation between Michelle Wong, assistant curator of\u00a0Gwangju Biennale 2016, and\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/ava.hkbu.edu.hk\/people\/ms-wan-lai-kuen-annie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Annie Wan<\/a>, participating artist of\u00a0Gwangju Biennale 2016. Johnson Chang and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arthistory.hku.hk\/index.php\/people\/yeewan-koon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Koon<\/a>\u00a0joined their discussion at a later stage. The panel then opened the floor to questions. Students from different institutions participated with great enthusiasm and the Department shall look forward to collaborating with Gwangju Biennale for more \u2018Infra-School\u2019 satellite
