Dear members and friends of the Department of Fine Arts,<\/p>\n

The Department of Fine Arts at the University of Hong Kong is pleased to announce that the winner of this year\u2019s University of Hong Kong Museum Society Asian Art Essay Prize is Ms. Junyuan XUE for her essay entitled, \u201cThe Scholar in the Study: Wang Fu\u2019s Landscape as a Personal and Historical Space.\u201d Please join us in congratulating Junyuan! The winning essay can be viewed\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The jury for this year\u2019s prize has also awarded a special mention to Ms. Rebecca CHEN Ying for an essay entitled, \u201cThe Theme of eremitism in Thatched Hut in an Autumn Grove.\u201d<\/p>\n

We would like to take this opportunity to also express our deep gratitude to the University of Hong Kong Museum Society for their generosity in sponsoring this annual prize and funding the cash award of $2,000. The prize is open to all undergraduate majors in Fine Arts. The jury consisted of Dr. Carolyn Muir (undergraduate coordinator), Dr. Roz Hammers (specialist in Chinese and Indian art and architecture), and Dr. Yeewan Koon (specialist in Chinese and Japanese art).<\/p>\n

Special thanks also go to all the students who made the extra effort to revise and submit essays originally written for their Art History courses. Such efforts help the entire department raise our level of excellence in both teaching and learning.<\/p>\n
