The winning essay can be viewed\u00a0<a title=\"Hu Yue Essay\" href=\"https:\/\/arthistory.hku.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/HuYueEssay.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The jury for this year\u2019s prize has also awarded a special mention to Jennifer Chiang for her essay \u201cCrossing Culture in the Blue-and-White with Arabic or Persian Inscriptions under Emperor Zhengde (r. 1506-21).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We also wish to express our special gratitude to the\u00a0University\u00a0of\u00a0Hong Kong Museum Society\u00a0for their generosity in sponsoring this annual prize and funding the cash award of $2,000. The prize is open to all undergraduate majors in Fine Arts and we received nine excellent submissions from students who studied Asian art in 2008-09. The jury consisted of Professor David Clarke (undergraduate coordinator, 2008-09), <a href=\"https:\/\/arthistory.hku.hk\/index.php\/people\/roslyn-l-hammers\/\">Dr. Roz Hammers<\/a> (specialist in Chinese and Indian art and architecture), and <a href=\"https:\/\/arthistory.hku.hk\/index.php\/people\/yeewan-koon\/\">Dr. Yeewan Koon<\/a> (specialist in Chinese and Japanese art).<\/p>\n<p>Special thanks are due, finally, to all the students who made the extra effort to revise and submit essays originally written for their Art History courses.
