Wong Tin Lok

Community Art Mediator, 1a space
Author of The Politics of Space Satellite

Lok Wong was a student at the Hong Kong Art Workshop that gave birth to the Hong Kong Art Timeline project. His satellite timeline on artist-run space and pop-up art events was first inspired by his artist friends’ exhibition at a consignment store. Intrigued by the scrambling of space within the art world, he began his project intending to highlight how local artists’ idea on space were shifting rapidly after 2014. After a holistic development on the topic, his project eventually investigated the spatial paradigm of the independent art scene all the way from 1980s to now.

He has previously interned at multiple non-profit art organizations, including Para Site and Asia Art Archive. He joined 1a space in 2021 as Community Art Mediator. Besides his work, he is also developing curatorial projects with other galleries on a collaborative basis. He wishes to facilitate a fairer art scene where resources are distributed justifiably, and independent art labour can be appreciated.
