Lam has studied both Western and Chinese painting under Wu Guoguang, Lin Guang, Chen Ting and Liu Muzhu since 1978. He moved to Hong Kong in 1984 and graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1990. Lam combined Chinese ink and colour with western medium such as watercolours and acrylics in his paintings. Lam's work have been presented in over ten solo exhibitions and over a hundred local and overseas joint exhibitions. He has published three albums of paintings.
