Kwan Sheung Chi was born in Hong Kong in 1980. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2003. In the same year, he set up a studio in Fotan industrial district and became an active member of the Fotanian. Kwan is one of the founders of the Hong Kong Arts Discovery Channel (HKADC), hkPARTg, and Woofer Ten. His solo exhibitions include Kwan Sheung Chi Touring Series Exhibitions (toured in ten major exhibition venues in Hong Kong such as Hong Kong Museum of Art, 2002), Works of Kwan Sheung Chi (Breakthrough Youth Village Gallery, Hong Kong, 2004), and No Matter. Try again. Fail again (gallery EXIT, Hong Kong, 2009). He participated in the Strangers, a Japanese and Hong Kong Artists Exchange Project, organized by ART No.11 and became an Artist-in-Residence in Tokyo and Kawasaki in 2007. In 2009, Kwan was awarded the Starr Foundation Fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council and took part in the International Residency Program of Location One (New York, 2009-2010). His works are collected by AllianceBernstein Hong Kong Limited, Bank of America (Asia) Ltd (Hong Kong), Davis Polk & Wardwell (Hong Kong), and other private collectors.
