Local Orientation was a video project made to explore the cityscape along the straight lines set on the map. The project was first done in 1998 and four series of video were made then. After 4 years, walking along the same paths, a new series of video were made. The work depicted the rapid changes of the cityscape and the vitality of the street life in Hong Kong. The work was shown in the Kwangju Biennale as a video installation. And a screening version entitled “Walking a Straight Line in the City” was made after the exhibition.
