Chu started his career as a professional photographer after his graduation from the Fine Art Photography Department of Tokyo College of Photography, Japan, in 1986. He is well known for his black and white images including portrait, nude, still life and architecture. His work earned him a grant from Asian Cultural Council in 1993 and his solo exhibitions included 'Nudes & Flowers' (2001), 'Traces' (2000), 'Life Still' (1999/2000), 'Existence + Revelation' (Photo Installation, 1998) and 'Asian Artists in New York' (1994) etc. His work was also featured in the international publication including Nude Index(Germany), Graphis Nudes (USA), deja-vu(Japan). His work was collected by numerous private collectors and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. The whole series of 'Asian Artists in New York' is collected by Agfa-Gevaert (H.K.) Limited.
