| Norman Jackson Ford has been an artist and educator since 1980. Involved in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Hong Kong and Macau, his work has been exhibited and collected both regionally and internationally. Working as an artist, commercial photographer, writer and researcher in Hong Kong since 1994, he has published several articles on photography and various media. Ford continues to teach photography, multi-media, visual cultural studies and related subjects at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (School of Design), the Art School of the Hong Kong Arts Centre, as well as conducts lectures and workshops for the Hong Kong Museum of Art. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Hong Kong, critiquing cross-cultural theories through a study of Hong Kong visual culture and lens-based media. In 2001-02, he curated Re-considered Crossings: Representation Beyond Hybridity, an arts and cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Vienna, and co-edited the book Traversals (Map Books, 2001) published in conjunction with the project. His most recent project Consuming Difference (2003) examines the commodification of hybridity and difference through various media. | |||||||||||
