Homage to Ando Tadao ( 2006 ) Interactive Installation
Supported by Fabrica - Benetton’s Research and Communication Centre. This work was created in the Fabrica Research Centre, built by Architect Ando Tadao. The work itself, as well the creative process, are a mediation between different attributes of its context. Three attributes are featured in the work: the architectural space of Ando, the Venetian context, and the philosophy behind Benetton’s Fabrica project. Among them, the concerns of the exploration into new territories, new creations, and new knowledge; the exchanges between the East and West and world cultures; and the Celebration of a Universal harmony, are some of the remarkable highlights shared through these attributes and derived into the conception of the work. The interface of the work (water, fire, light, wind, reflection) pays a great tribute to the spiritual organisation of spaces created by Ando. The interaction (floating boats to the water) and the materials used are reduced into its simplest form, allowing the essence of each materials to communicate and confront intimately with the participants of the work.
