Distilling Kwun Tong ( 2009 ) Installation
Supported by Osage Art Foundation. Kwun Tong was named after the Koon Fu salt yards (官富場), set up by the government to secure central administration of the salt trade. There were many salt yards around Kwun Tong, whose long coastline stretches as far as Kowloon Bay and To Kwa Wan in the west. Since the 1950s, Kwun Tong became the first industrial areas in Hong Kong. Water around Kwun Tong was heavily contaminated by the various industries in the area. Today, since the importance of industry in Hong Kong is fading out, many factories are torn down and commercial buildings and shopping centers are being constructed to replace them.
