Poon graduated with a Bachelor in Architecture and moved to Hong Kong in 1959 where he studied ink painting under Lui Shou Kwan. His works have been selected for exhibit in the Hong Kong Art Biennial. He has also held several solo exhibitions. His works have been collected by the Hong Kong Museum of Art and Hong Kong Heritage Museum. In 1985 he received the Urban Council Art Award. He is Administrator of the Hong Kong Artists Association, and has published an album titled “Songs of Cloud and Mountain.”
