Nicky Runge received her B.A. (cum laude) from The University of Amsterdam and is in the process of finishing her PhD on ‘Performing the ‘woman’ artist: Social identity constructions in contemporary art discourse’ on a PGS Scholarship from The University of Hong Kong and a Cultural Research Scholarship from the VSB Foundation. Her research interests include language and the contemporary art world, primarily focusing on the self-presentation and identity constructions of artists in the art world as a professional environment. Her doctoral thesis focuses on the artists Yoko Ono, Tracey Emin and Marina Abramović. Prior to undertaking her doctoral studies, she worked as an editor and translator in Paris and Amsterdam for various art and cultural platforms.
