The art of the ancient Aegean

This courses introduces the topic of ancient Aegean Art, chronologically spanning from the Neolithic Era to the Beginning of the Dark Ages, and encompassing the three major art historical categories of Cycladic, Minoan and Mycenaean material culture.  By incorporating art history, archaeology, ancient history and classical studies, the course seeks to offer new interpretations of the Ancient Aegean iconographies and cultures, while also examining the relationship between the Aegean World and Egypt, Anatolia and the Near East.
