Research methods in art history

This course introduces students to key concepts and practices of art historical investigation, giving them command of the skills needed to pursue their chosen topic of research. The course focuses on understanding leading paradigms of theory and methodology in the student’s area of study and applying them to the student’s specific research material. Other aspects of methodological training include: defining research goals, planning a research strategy; exploiting research resources effectively; and collecting, organizing, and analyzing primary source materials.
