Dear Students, Colleagues, and Friends,

The Department of Fine Arts will be undergoing a major change. From September 2020, we will be officially known under a new name: The Department of Art History. We are excited about this change – it is a name that befits what we have been doing for more than 40 years and will continue to do into the future. The past year has been a challenging one, and like many of our colleagues from HKU and other institutions, we have reflected on the contributions of our work, practices and pedagogy. We recognize that while the future can be uncertain, we must provide direction for the many students who find a home in our department. We continue to offer our students exciting courses across a range of areas, periods and specialism. We also offer opportunities in other areas such as internships, career training and experiential learning projects. To find out more, please check out our soon-to-be-launched new website and our first-ever IG account. They will be running over the summer months, and we need your help. If you come across minor errors, let us know and if you come cross things you like, please let us know too. Meanwhile, have a good and safe summer.
