2020 Asia Regional Winner of the Undergraduate Awards in Art History
We’re proud to announce that former Fine Arts undergraduate student Ms. Lee Yi Ting has been named the Asia Regional Winner of The Undergraduate Awards in the category of Art History and Theory. Ms. Lee won for an essay entitled "Deconstructing National Representation in Abanindranath Tagore’s Journey’s End" which she originally wrote for ARTH3028 The mirror and the globe: Courtly arts of India 16-19th century, taught by Dr Kathleen Wyma. The Undergraduate Awards is a non-profit organization based in Ireland that holds an annual competition to recognize high-performing university students worldwide. Congratulations Yi Ting!

Dr Carolyn Muir
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sad passing of our beloved colleague and friend Dr. Carolyn Muir on 22 December 2020. Carolyn had a long battle with cancer which she fought with great bravery. She is survived by her husband Jeff, and sons Chris and David. Carolyn joined HKU in 1979 when our art history programme was just beginning, and she was instrumental in making it the success that it is today. A dedicated scholar of Northern European Renaissance art, she published numerous articles and a lavishly illustrated book, Saintly Brides and Bridegrooms: The Mystic Marriage in Northern Renaissance Art (Brepols, 2012). Office and RC Closing on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
With the reduced office hours still in practice, please note that there will also be a number of upcoming University holidays, including 24 Dec and 31 Dec (pm), as well as public holidays, including 25 Dec and 1 Jan. In the remaining two weeks of December 2020, the Department office and Resource Centre will therefore open only from: Monday to Wednesday, 10am-1pm, 2pm-4pm We will resume our usual Monday to Friday schedule in the week of 4 January 2021.
