Transformations: Art Workshop and Art Practices

Last summer, with the support of HKU Knowledge Exchange Grant and the Faculty of Arts, a group of Fine Arts undergraduates, including Miles Dugan, Erin Li, and Clea Chan, Shirley Chan, Bridgette Kam, Chloe Lam and Sunny Liu, worked on the project Transformations: Art Workshops and Art Practices, in which they assisted in the production of It Begins with Metamorphosis: Xu Bing, an exhibition curated by one of our faculty members Dr. Yeewan Koon at Asia Society Hong Kong Centre from May 8 to August 31, 2014. Their first and primary role was to raise silkworms that were used in the creation of two artworks. The Second component of the project was to conduct workshops. They gave young participants interactive exhibitions tours and brought up various themes in their discussions, in the hope that children and their families could relate their own lives to art and find their own ways of expression.

Photos of this project are now on display in the Ground Floor Gallery of Run Run Shaw Tower.
