Closing of Department Office and the Resource Centre
As the local outbreak of coronavirus has continued, the department is closing its office and the resource centre until further notice. In the meantime, our administrative staff will be working from home. For enquiries and special arrangements, please email our staff: (General enquiries) art.history@hku.hk (Resource Centre enquiries) ahrc@hku.hk We will get back to you as soon as possible. Be cautious and stay positive!
Reduced Opening Hours of Office and Resource Centre
With a recent spike in local cases of coronavirus, the Department General Office and the Resource Centre will operate on a reduced schedule until further notice. Monday to Friday, 10am-1pm, 2pm-4pm We will take cautious measures to minimize the risk of infection. Our staff will have students' temperature measured before they enter the centre. Students should also wear a mask inside. With social distancing still in practice, we will keep the maximum number of students using our collection to 6 at a time.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our department's new Instagram account! Explore more about Art History at HKU in a fun way! There will be interviews, interesting art facts, latest news on the department, on different programmes, on students' life, feedback and promo on various events and projects, internships, local exhibitions... Website Launch: The Pilgrims’ Guide
Congratulations to the Pilgrims' Guide project team, Dr. Elizabeth Lastra, Gigi Leung, student contributors and Grayscale Limited! The Pilgrim’s Guide is a student-built website created by HKU undergraduates in the course ARTH2103 Saintly Bodies and Holy Shrines: The Art and Architecture of Medieval Pilgrimage. For their semester project, students took ownership over individual sites or objects associated with pilgrimage and researched, designed, and authored projects that together map the pilgrimage routes of Europe. New Name: The Department of Art History
Dear Students, Colleagues, and Friends, The Department of Fine Arts will be undergoing a major change. From September 2020, we will be officially known under a new name: The Department of Art History. We are excited about this change – it is a name that befits what we have been doing for more than 40 years and will continue to do into the future.
