Asian Art Essay Prize Competition 2014-2015 This is a call for entries for the annual University of Hong Kong Museum Society Asian Art Essay Prize. A prize of HK$2,000 will be offered to the winner. Museum Visit at Hong Kong Heritage Museum In view of the exciting exhibition “Dunhuang – Untold Tales, Untold Riches” at Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Fine Arts Society organized a study trip on February 7th, 2015. The Society invited Dr Yeewan Koon  to tour a group of 20 Fine Arts students through the exhibition. They went  from one cave to another, experiencing how those fascinating mural paintings and sculptures would have functioned in their original contexts. Meeting Place: Open Studio with Artstation Please join our university artists Glenn Davidson and Anne Hayes of Artstation. There will be an open studio in Room 404 Run Run Shaw Tower between Feb 2-13. It opens from Monday to Friday, from 2 to 4pm. Come along, to chat and work with them to create a paper installation artwork that will be displayed on campus. We welcome students from all faculties to take part in this exciting project. New Course for Second Semester: Gender and Sexuality in Architecture ARTH2089 Gender and Sexuality in Architecture is a new 2000-level course that has been added to the B.A. syllabus. We are calling your attention to this because most students drafted their timetables at the beginning of the academic year, when the course was not yet available. Asian Art Essay Prize 2013-2014

The Department of Fine Arts at the University of Hong Kong is pleased to announce that the winner of this year’s University of Hong Kong Museum Society Asian Art Essay Prize is Mr. Andrew Fung On Tsun for his essay “A New Perspective in Chinese Art: Unearthing Vernacular Painting in the High Qing.” Honorable mention goes to Ms Zhu Pingyan.
